From: judy Dear *******, Brigitte Straulino, president of the One Voice-one Nation Human Rights Defenders, has asked me to reply to your email dated 14th February, 2001, in regards to my father, Brian Fyffe, and the circumstances surrounding his current imprisonment. I am attaching a "summary of events" so to speak, that dad had me type out for him a few months ago. This document covers the events which lead up to his current predicament. I have since added to it after the police raid on the night of 10th October, 2000. My father has been illegally detained in the Victorian Prison system since the 10-10-2000. He is 61 years of age and in ill health. He has a series of medical conditions, mainly heart and diabetes which require constant monitoring and medication for which he is not receiving at the Port Phillip prison. We raised these concerns at the last bail application on the 20th December, 2000, which we also provided a medical history from his doctor. The Judge deemed that dad could receive the proper medical treatment at the prison. There has been numerous occasions where dad has not received his medication or had his blood pressure and sugar levels tested for days on end. He looks extremely ill at the moment; I was in there on Tuesday visiting him and was most alarmed at his facial colouring which was a shade of grey. It appears that dad has to be hospitalised before the authorities will realize how ill he really is. I hope this information will help to enlighten you on this sorry state of affairs. It would be most appreciated if you could help us in any way possible. My father's committal hearing is to be held in the Bairnsdale's magistrates court on the 13th March, 2001, for which he will have to represent himself. Why, you ask? Dad has made 3 requests now for legal aid funding all of which have been refused. His currently solicitor has told dad that he will not be able to represent him unless legal aid can fund the case as dad already owes him quite a bit of money and we, as his family, can not afford to pay the solicitor either. That is the reason why Dad has not appealed to the Supreme Court for a bail application. We don't have the money. Yours sincerely, Judy |
The Editor, Dear Sir, I would appreciate it if you could print the following letter addressed to the people of Australia. Dear fellow Australians, Oh yes, Ishould mention that as soon as the SOG had my parents removed the Sheriff moved in and took possession of the property, employed Security Guards at the tax payers expense and then promptly sold off the property by Public Tender. This is the SECOND time in 12 years that the Sheriff has pulled this exact same stunt with my father. Fellow Australians, work it out for yourselves what has happened here. This could happen to you!!! Yours sincerely, Judy |
